Elm
Welcome to the Elm Class page!
This term’s topic is all about Culture and Community and we will be exploring our learning question
’What is the weather like in the UK?’
In English we will be focused on the fundamentals of writing, remembering how to build our sentences correctly, using punctuation and our beautiful handwriting. We will be using colourful semantics to look at building sentences.
In maths, our Year 1 children are focusing on place value, adding and subtracting within 20, while our year 2 children are looking at money and our times tables.
In Geography, we are learning all about the UK and what the climate/weather is like. We will be thinking about how we can describe different types of weather and how different places in the UK have different weather.
In Science, we are learning about animals and their habitats. We are thinking about where different animals live and what they get from their habitats.
We love reading at Robert Bakewell, so please try to read as much as possible with your child at home, we cannot wait to hear all about their exciting reads! Remember to log all of their amazing reading on Boomreader so they can get their reading prizes.
Please keep an eye on our class page for regular updates and as a window to our fantastic learning!
Our P.E lessons take place on a Tuesday and a Friday. Please ensure your child comes into school in their P.E kit on those days each week. Also, please ensure your child has a water bottle in school everyday.
If you have any questions or would like to discuss anything, then please feel free to email the school office.
