Glazing clay birds

This week, the children were very excited to see their clay birds return from the kiln. With great care and creativity, they then began the glazing process.

Before they started, the children thought carefully about how to highlight the key features of their bird using the glaze. They considered which colours would best bring their designs to life and how to apply the glaze to emphasise texture and form. An important part of the learning process was understanding that glaze looks different once it has been fired in the kiln.

We are very much looking forward to seeing the finished pieces and celebrating each child’s unique bird.
