Welcome to the Hornbeam class page!
Welcome back to a brand-new academic year!
We hope you have had a wonderful and relaxing summer holiday. We are thrilled to begin another exciting learning adventure together, filled with curiosity, creativity and discovery. This term, we will investigate the fascinating world of volcanoes, explore the enchanting story of The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane, and develop our French vocabulary as we learn about musical instruments.
In Art, we will journey back in time to discover prehistoric cave art before experimenting with a variety of media, materials and textures to create our own imaginative masterpieces.
Our PE days Wednesday and Fridays, with a focus on Hockey and Fitness.
Please ensure children come to school dressed in their PE kit. This includes black tracksuit bottoms/black shorts, school red jumper, white t-shirt and trainers.
We love reading at Robert Bakewell, so please try to read as much as possible with your child at home and log it onto Boom Reader. We cannot wait to hear all about their exciting reads and present them with their rewards!
Don’t forget to keep an eye on our webpage as we will upload photographs regularly to showcase the fabulous learning happening in class and our Stars of the Week.
Thank you, Mr Sawyer and the Hornbeam team.
Biographies
Mr Sawyer - Class teacher: It is a joy and a privilege to teach your children. This is my fifth year teaching and my second year at Robert Bakewell. My favourite subjects are Maths, Science, Music and PE! My hobbies are Music, from singing/playing to listening, and anything sport-based. I was once nicknamed an “anorak” for knowing all sorts of random pub-quiz trivia around sports! I also can’t forget to shout out my one true love, Nottingham Forest Football Club (as well as my future wife of course!)
