Birch
Welcome to Birch!
This term’s topic is all about Conflict & Resolution and we will be exploring our learning question
“What did Florence and Mary do to help soldiers in the war?
Our first couple of weeks in English we will be looking at instructions and then we will be revisiting writing a narrative with the support of Colourful Semantics. In Maths, Year 1s will be looking at addition & subtraction within 10 and Year 2s will be exploring addition & subtraction within 100.
In History we will be learning all about the lives of significant individuals in history - Mary Seacole and Florence Nightingale. We will be finding out how they contributed to society and why we celebrate them today. In DT, we will be making stretchers and using our knowledge from our materials topic in Science to help us!
We love reading at Robert Bakewell, so please try to read as much as possible with your child at home, we cannot wait to hear all about their exciting reads!
Please keep an eye on our class page for regular updates and as a window to our fantastic learning!
Our P.E lessons take place on a Wednesday and a Thursday. Please ensure your child comes into school in their P.E kit on those days each week. Also, please ensure your child has a water bottle in school everyday.
If you have any questions or would like to discuss anything, then please feel free to email the school office.
