Summer 1

Our topic for Summer 1 is all about Communication and Connections and we will be exploring our learning question “Who would you like to go on an adventure with?”

In English, children will be retelling well‑loved stories such as We’re Going on a Bear Hunt and The Three Billy Goats Gruff. They will bring these tales to life through actions, props, and simple story maps, helping them deepen their understanding. Children will also be encouraged to extend their sentences using the connective and.

In Maths, children will continue counting beyond 20 and will use practical equipment to solve simple addition and subtraction problems. They will be introduced to the idea of doubling, revisit number bonds to 10, and explore a range of 3D shapes.

In Geography, children will learn that the world is made up of many different countries, each with its own environments and features. This will be a lovely opportunity for them to share their own experiences of travel and places they have visited.

In Science, children will investigate simple forces through hands‑on exploration, discovering how pushes, pulls, and other forces affect the way objects move.

Please keep an eye on our webpage as we will upload photographs on a regular basis, to showcase the wonderful learning that is going on in our indoor and outdoor classrooms.

PE this half term will be on Friday, so please ensure your child comes to school dressed in their PE kit. This includes black joggers/leggings, plain white t-shirt and black pumps. Children will also need to wear a black zip jacket, or their school jumper.
