Teeth decay experiment

In Science, we’ve been learning all about teeth — their different functions and why it’s so important to look after them properly! To explore this further, the children carried out an exciting experiment to find out which drink would cause the most damage to tooth enamel, using eggs as a stand-in for teeth. They made predictions based on what they already knew about sugar content and were confident that cola would be the worst culprit. However, after leaving the eggs soaking in the different liquids over half term, the results were surprising — it was actually orange juice that caused the most damage! The children carefully recorded their observations and wrote thoughtful conclusions about what they discovered.
